About Marie-Michèle Desmarais
Marie-Michèle Desmarais is a Quebec-based wildlife artist and the creative force behind LE NID Atelier. From her studio in Magog, she creates captivating black-and-white charcoal illustrations that bring animals to life with remarkable personality, emotion, and realism.
Her deep connection to wildlife began in childhood near the Granby Zoo, where daily visits with her parents sparked a lifelong passion for animals. Trained as a speech therapist (with fine arts studies at Concordia University), she launched her art business after drawing adorable baby animals for her daughter’s nursery. What started as personal decor quickly grew into a successful collection loved by families and art enthusiasts alike.
Signature Style & Philosophy Marie-Michèle works primarily in charcoal on paper or canvas, creating pieces that feel three-dimensional and full of life. Her collections include Les Adorables (perfect for children’s rooms) and Les Majestics (striking pieces for living spaces). Each animal is drawn with care to capture its unique character and spirit.
She is also committed to giving back — planting a tree for every piece sold and supporting wildlife conservation through partnerships like the Granby Zoo Foundation.
